At the time of the attack, football-loving Haidar was wearing a Real Madrid top with his idol Cristiano's number seven on the back.
A local reporter, Rana Harbi, was touched by Haidar's story after she visited the youngster in hospital. She reached out to the Spanish football giants, asking if Cristiano, who has a five-year-old son, would meet the little boy.
Real Madrid responded with a positive and their meeting finally took place on Friday 18 December.
The little boy was sporting a Real Madrid top at the time
Haidar, who has now recovered, was shown around the Bernabéu football stadium by the club's president Florentino Pérez.
Arriving in a stripy jumper and tracksuit bottoms, Haidar was presented with his own personalised Real Madrid football top with the same number as his idol. He met different players and toured the grounds, but when it was time to meet his hero, it all proved a bit too much for young Haidar.
The adorable youngster couldn't hold back his tears as Cristiano knelt down and hugged him close. In utter disbelief, Haidar wept as it dawned on him that he was meeting the real Cristiano.
Haidar travelled to Madrid, Spain to meet his hero
It was a day of high emotion for the little boy and the moment was captured in a video that was later uploaded to Real Madrid's YouTube channel. The tear-jerking clip has since gone viral with football fans of different teams praising the Spanish giants for their act of kindness.
This wasn't the last meeting between Haidar and Cristiano though. The young boy attended Real Madrid's training session the following day where he watched his hero and Cristiano's fellow players take to the pitch.
